Play groups

Some dogs don’t do well at the dog park for various reasons, e.g., they get overwhelmed and nervous, or are poop eaters, or get sick from drinking the puddle water, or have skin problems from swimming in Lake Washington, etc.

I have come up with a fun alternative. We have installed new fencing in our large North Seattle, specifically for play groups (there's a photo of me with a play group in my dog park on my home page). I'll pick up your dog from home and bring her to my yard to play together with a small group of dogs. The dogs play fetch, chase, sniff all over, and always have a ton of fun. I have noticed that many dogs seem more relaxed at play group than at the dog park. If you have a dog that is dog friendly but would do better in a smaller, safer environment, then the play group would be the perfect fit. Your pooch will be delivered back home happy and tired.

Park excursions

Many dogs love to romp and play with other dogs, but it may be hard to find companions for your dog to play with by the time you get home from work on those dark, rainy evenings. If your dog is sociable with other dogs, we can come during the day and pick your pooch up for an adventure. Our park excursions include lots of individual attention. We transport your dog in a safe, comfortable, heated/air-conditioned vehicle to an off-leash park in Seattle for a high-energy session of fetching, romping, and sniffing. If your dog likes to swim, we can arrange that too. We take extra care to ensure that your dog arrives back home clean and dry, ready to snooze. These park excursions are a great opportunity for your pup to get plenty of exercise and all of his social needs met!

In order for dogs to come to the park they must meet the following requirements:

  • Be spayed or neutered
  • Current on all vaccinations deemed necessary by your veterinarian (adequate titers acceptable)
  • No poop or tennis ball eaters (yes, some dogs do this)
  • Come to their name when called
  • Be completely friendly with all other dogs and people
  • Be able to play with toys without any guarding issues
  • No out of control barkers; your dog must stop barking when told to

Dog walking

Dogs needs lots of exercise to stay happy, healthy and out of trouble! We know from experience how hard it can be to walk your dog every day. Let me walk your dog so that you come home at night to a satisfied and happy pup. We can walk your dog on those days when your schedule is just too crazy, or every day, or even several time a day. Rain or shine we will give your dog not just a walk, but also plenty of encouragement and attention, food and medications as needed, and we'll take care of any other special needs. We provide doggie raincoats for the really wet days, and we'll give your dog a rubdown afterwards if needed, to make sure the great outdoors stays there. Your canine companion will arrive back home dry, clean, and ready to hit the hay!

New puppy care program

Brand new puppies need a lot of care and attention the first few weeks, and most doggie daycares do not accept puppies under 16 weeks of age. The initial period, when a puppy gets housebroken and acclimated to a new home and new "parents" will determine in large part what kind of dog your pup grows up to be. A puppy that's left alone all day is likely to become fretful and insecure, which can result in destructive behavior, and aggressiveness or withdrawn behavior later in life. Housebreaking also takes much longer if no one is there during the day. So how can you get a new puppy and still go to work?

I offer a way to do that without using your sick leave or vacation time or abandoning your business: let me care for your new family member. I grew up in a family that raised puppies and I have raised many puppies. I can be there during that critical initial period, to provide love, attention, and house training.

I take on one puppy at a time. Your puppy will spend the day with me. I will pick up your puppy in the morning and deliver him back in the late afternoon. The puppy will be with me while I do my play groups, be in my home and get used to car rides. I will work on house training, feed him lunch and reinforce crate training.

This is one-on-one care and constant supervision. Taking care of a puppy is tough duty but somebody has to do it ;). In other words, I love puppies and can't think of a better way to spend my time than caring for yours!
